Boarding

Skills for Life

Our boarding program is an incredible experience that develops essential life skills such as independence, leadership, and empathy. When our boarding students go off to college, they feel confident and are prepared to take on anything that comes their way.

  • Independence: From doing their own laundry to eating healthy, to organizing homework, independence is a key skill developed by CH-CH boarding students.

  • Leadership: There are numerous ways in which boarding students gain real-world leadership experience, including:
    • Resident Assistant (RA) Program: Our dorms have student RA’s, who work alongside dorm parents to lead discussions, to plan weekend activities, and to ensure all residents are working together to take care of their space. These student RA’s learn how to inspire positivity as a leader among their peers.
    • Hosting On-Campus Events: Students work with dorm parents to plan all kinds of student-led weekend activities. From our fun coffee houses where students will get up and perform, to dances, or community-wide charity events, students are taking the lead!

  • Empathy: Being immersed in CH-CH’s diverse boarding community, means students gain the ability to understand, learn from, and share the feelings of those around them. From sharing a space with a roommate in the dorm to taking part in dorm-wide discussions, these students learn the importance of opening up to new points of view.
    • Dorm-wide discussions: The dorm meets regularly to discuss events both globally and within the School. This is a time when students can openly talk about what’s on their minds.
    • Small group discussions: Each boarding student is a member of a small group within their dorm that meets weekly. These groups include a dorm parent and are another safe space for students to share their thoughts and feelings with one another. This is one of the many places where close friendships form, often with someone that is from an entirely different background and culture.

"There have been a lot of opportunities for me to take on leadership roles."
